2010 NFL Mock Draft: San Francisco 49ers Fans, Build Your Own Draft

There are a ton of mock drafts out there right now, and everyone has an opinion on what the 49ers should do in the draft.

One thing is clear—the team needs to draft a tackle, but at what point in the draft do they take one?

You have one faction screaming that they must take one with one of their first two picks, and then there is the other side saying that the draft is deep in tackles and we should take the best available player that falls to us (e.g. C.J. Spiller or Joe Haden).

A road-paving guard would be nice to get the running game going in such a way that the team can “impose its will” on opposing teams.

The secondary also needs to be addressed. Sure, we had a few injuries last year, but Nate Clements has not lived up to his contract, and Dre' Bly's and Walt Harris’ futures with the team are uncertain. Shawntae Spencer has been a nice surprise, but the verdict is still out on Tarell Brown.

We did sign Karl Paymah from the Minnesota Vikings, but we also lost Marcus Hudson to the Carolina Panthers.

Michael Lewis has been solid but not spectacular and is a liability in coverage, so a safety is an option.

The pass rush did come on towards the end of last season with the emergence of Ahmad Brooks. However, many of the team's sacks came against weaker opponents. Too many times on third down the other team converted. The team should be looking at defensive ends and outside linebackers.

If the team fails to sign Aubrayo Franklin to a long-term deal, it needs to find someone it can groom to replace him at nose tackle.   

The return game stinks—end of story. The team needs to find an elusive, fleet-footed player. Whether or not that is a running back, wide receiver, or cornerback doesn’t matter—they need to find someone that can return kicks and punts.   

A blocking tight end also needs to be brought in to compete with recently signed Tony Curtis.

Okay, so now it is your turn. I will supply the players that most commonly come up in mock drafts at that particular round. You select the player that you would like to see drafted in that round and give your reason for that selection.

If you don’t see a player you like, feel free to add your own. You may place them in any round that you feel makes sense. This is especially true when you get to the later rounds, as there are not a lot of full seven-round mock drafts out there.
